A research on family folklore of Trabzon Yomra district

The family is an important element in the creation and transmission of culture and is an interdisciplinary subject that will be the source of more than one research. Family folklore, which is shaped around the concept of family, is a folklore subject that focuses on examining the cultural products of the family. This study, which is based on the families of Yomra region of Trabzon, consists of three parts. In the first part, information about the city history, geographical features, city economy and cultural background of Trabzon province, which was chosen as a research area, is given. The historical, geographical and socioeconomic characteristics of the research area are emphasized. In the second part of the study, the subject of family was examined in depth under the name of the concept of family. The definition of the concept of family, the changes in the concept of family from past to present, the transformations of the Turkish family structure in the historical process, the types of families, the six functions of the family and the information given about the family structures observed in Turkey constitute the subtitles of this section. In the third part of the study, the development, components and basic structure of family folklore are emphasized. After informing about the history of family folklore, field research of family folklore and studies on this subject are included. The study, which was carried out in the Yomra district of Trabzon, is divided into sixteen sub-titles from family folklore research topics and an evaluation is made at the end of each title. At the end of the study, sixteen sub-titles under the name of family folklore in Trabzon and its surroundings were evaluated separately and recommendations were given to researchers who will study the subject of family folklore.
