Abstract (EN)

SUMMARY Plant materials and compositions are in a given up quality in landscape architecture. Therefore, this makes possible using different characteristics of species in natural vegetations that present identity of a region while making planning studies. The East Blacksea Region has a rich flora at various altitude from sea level to highland, where this research was made in Trabzon and its environments. Plant taxa that takes part in natural vegetations and shows groundcover plants property with its esthetics and functional values in landscape architecture were investigated. In this research, from various growing medium (especially rocky, slope and under forest condition), about 349 number of plant taxa belonging to 50 family were determined with its medium property that takes place and some other general properties (i.e. hight, form, etc.). In this research, the presentation of plant species according to Davis (1965-1988) were done to evaluate plant compositions based on Braun-Blanquet (1964) process. Belonging to that region from natural groundcover plant species average of 18 different perennial plant species from 8 family that can be estimated were choosen for the aim of adaptation as trial. Groundcover characterisitics of choosen plant species, growing stuations in Trabzon conditions and using possibilities from functional and esthetics point of view were investigated. The plants which have been cultivated in this research are seen as below: Hypericum pruinatum, Hypericum orientale (GUTTIFERAE), Tcmacetum armenum, Helichyrsum graveolens, (COMPOSITAE), Minuartia circassica (CARYOPHYLLACEAE), Sibbaldia parviflora var. parviflora (ROSACEAE), Satureja spicigera, Teucrium chamaedrys var. trapezunticum, Thymus praecox subsp. caucasicus var. grossheimii, Thymus praecox subsp. caucasicus var. caucasicusus (LABIATAE), Sedum spurium, Sedum gracile, Sedum tenellum, Sedum stoloniferum, Sedum pallidum var. bithynicum, Sempervivum minus var. minus (CRASSULACEAE), Helianthemum nummularium subsp. tomentosum (CISTACEAE), Alyssum murale subsp. murale var. murale (CRUCIFERAE) Key Words : Landscape architecture, groundcover plants,adaptation, floristic composition VII
