Özet (EN)

The first thing that comes to mind for the concept of "requirements", which is a fascinating part of consumption, is the eternity of needs. As individuals, human beings are born with the con-cept of requirements. And in this context, in order to sustain our lives and to fulfill our needs, we are taking continuous action. Whether this act is consciously or ideology's perception of consump-tion, consumption is still turning its own wheel. This has evolved into an act of depletion built on "utility" along with the need-dominated system. The place and importance of consumer society in the sovereign system we are currently living is gradually increasing. However, we can say that consumer society is one of the definitions that describe the age we live in and presents us with many socio-economic and psychological social data. The individual is directed by the imposition that being a character in society can be achieved as part of the consumption wheel. The false needs that are created feed the consumer society and increas-ingly widespread. All these needs function as a continuous wheel system for both production and consumption. Thus, the ideology of consumption comes into play, the meanings of consumption and the concept of necessity are emptied and another universe of consumption emerges. It is observed that the hid-den side of the self-reproducing mechanism of this capitalist universe is the concept of consumption and consumerism, which alienates individuals. The universe created by this fiction is now widely imposed on society through mass media. For example, regardless of age, gender and educational background, it would not be wrong to assume that everyone is directed to be equipped with unnec-essary needs and objects, even by looking at the billboards that everyone observes while walking on the street. The reflections of the consumer society and its returns on cinema are also quite high and from a cinematic perspective, it was seen as a work of criticism and assumed the task of being a mirror to the audience. With this thesis, I intend to further analyze the cinematic effects of the consumer so-ciety and the kind of "stop produce-begin consume" motivation on individuals. Through film analy-sis, we will be able to understand the stages through which society forms today's consumer society. At this point, I intend to examine this in this thesis, which will be the critique of how much the in-dividuals or societies have been overdone and exploited. In line with this information, in this study, the transformation of society into consumer society and perception management on society will be analyzed. The ideological analysis within the film "They Live", which examines the fine detail of the consumer society between seeing and looking, will be evaluated from a semiotic perspective. The metaphors in the film depict the universe that surrounds us now and decipher the illusion of how we live. It is supported by other film contents that critically criticize the society we live in. Keywords: Consumption Society, Cinema, Culture Industry, Cinema over Consumption.
