An Alevi Ocak in Tunceli-Mazgirt: Şıh Çoban

It is also accepted that Sheikh/Sıh Çoban, who is thought to have lived at the end of the 13th century and the beginning of the 14th century, is a historical figure beyond the hagiographies and oral narratives. Sheikh Coban, together with his dervish group, operated in many parts of Anatolia and took his place among the saints who played a role in the school of Sufism. The Sıh Coban lineage based in Tunceli-Mazgirt, which has continued its existence among the Alevi lineage in the region despite the changes it has undergone in the historical process, and the lineage-tribe relations with its contributions to the Alevi belief practices in the region, constitute the main subject of our study
