Abstract (EN)

It is possible to define Building Information Modeling (BIM) in many ways such as system, approach, method, process, information model. BIM technology enables the creation of a 3D building information model and that allowing different disciplines to work together on this model. In addition, the data stored on the building information model scopes the entire life cycle of a building. It creates reliable construction processes with the execution and control of project management processes. It provides that the best possible design is achieved as a result of the analysis that is obtained by making various simulations with the current data processed on the model. Despite the advantages of BIM technology, its use in the Turkish construction industry is not widespread compared with several countries. Identified that for this reason, in this study, it is aimed to identify the factors that cause the in architectural and engineering institutions in the Turkish construction sector to not use BIM applications widely. With a comprehensive literature review, 46 possible criteria were identified regarding not to use of BIM applications widely. The data of the study were collected by the survey forms prepared were sent via e-mail to the architects and civil engineers actively working in the Turkish construction industry throughout the country. The data collection process was carried out between 07.07.2020 - 14.11.2020 and the data of the study were obtained with the information obtained from 141 questionnaire forms in total, which were filled in full. The statistical analysis of the data collected was carried out using "Office 365 Excel 2019", "SPSS 22.0 for Windows" and "LISREL 8.7 for Windows" package programs. As a result of the analysis, 8 factors were obtained that caused BIM applications not to be widely used. Along with this, it has been obtained that the most important obstacles in the prevalent use of BIM applications in the Turkish construction industry; lack of incentives for the use of BIM, lack of BIM awareness, insufficient studies to introduce the transition to BIM applications, the problems that may occur regarding to BIM-based programs.
