Representation of the mayor in Turkish cinema

The nature of Turkish modernization has always been controversial from Ottoman to Republican Turkey. One of the arguments is the synchronization of modernization practices with the needs and values of the people. This is also an important factor in shaping local politics. The promises of the mayors and the reactions they received in the face of these promises, what the people favored or not, are the factors that determine the course of Turkey's modernization adventure. The conflicts, glitches, and humors in this adventure were directly or indirectly reflected in the cinema. A research on the representation of the mayor in the cinema will contribute to a better examination of the modernization adventure in Turkey. In this study, evaluations will be made about how mayors are reflected in the cinema in Turkey. The aim of this thesis; to reveal the place of local politics in Turkish modernization through the representation of mayors in the cinema.
