Abstract (EN)
Political humor intrinsically has a critical perspective. This criticism is directed at all the political actors from the government in power to the opposition. In every period of the Turkish political life, the changes in the administrative system, the leaders and the forms of governance they implement, the electoral systems, the coups and the constitutions formed afterwards, have shaped the social life. In this thesis, the reflection of developments in Turkish political life to the political humor is examined. The Akbaba magazine, the longest-running humor magazine in the history of the Republic and published by Orhan Seyfi Orhon and Yusuf Ziya Ortaç between 1922 and 1977, was discussed and the developments in Turkish political life that took place in the writings and caricatures of the magazine is discussed by examining their connections to today's Turkish politics.
