Digital literacy in Turkish teaching

This study aims to examine the Turkish Course Curriculum and Turkish coursebooks prepared in accordance with this program (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8) in terms of digital literacy. For this purpose, the Turkish Course Curriculum was examined in terms of content and achievement dimensions in the context of digital literacy, and Turkish coursebooks were examined in terms of their content and compliance with the achievements in the Turkish Course Curriculum. The study group of the study consists of the Turkish Course Curriculum (2019) and eight Turkish coursebooks (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8) that were found suitable for use with the permission of the Ministry of National Education. In the study where the qualitative research method was used, document analysis was preferred as the data collection technique. The data obtained in this study were analyzed using the content analysis method. The Turkish Course Curriculum was examined in terms of content, educational status and achievement dimensions in the context of digital literacy. Turkish coursebooks were examined in terms of the levels of inclusion of achievements related to digital literacy in the program in terms of reading texts, lesson preparation activities and activity dimensions. The findings obtained were presented with the support of images and the numerical data were arranged in tables. As a result of the study, it was determined that the concept of digital literacy was addressed as "digital competence" in the Turkish Course Curriculum (2019) and that the achievements in the program were related to digital literacy. An analysis of the degree to which Turkish textbooks incorporate digital literacy skills reveals a direct correlation between class level and the extent to which these skills are emphasised. A study of Turkish language textbooks reveals a significant correlation between digital literacy skills and the presence of related activities. However, the analysis also indicates a notable absence of specific digital literacy competencies within the Turkish language teaching programme.
