Concept of marriage in Turkish Dictionary (Nouns and verbs)

This study was prepared by scanning nouns and verbs related to the concept of marriage in the Turkish Dictionary, which was published in 2011. It has been determined that there are five hundred eighty one (581) nouns and verbs that relate to the concept of marrige in the dictionary. The conceptual study of marriage has an important place in society and in the life of the individual, and is also important since it carries the Turkish language to the future by displaying a wide range of Turkish vocabulary. The historical movements beginning before Islam and expanding until after the foundation of the Republic and the modern day, have affected the vocabulary related to marriage; including the vocabulary about the types of marriage, about the titles received through marriage and the words that are used from the beginning of a marriage until it is terminated. In this study, we classified these words under many different groups such as the process of marriage, gift traditions in marriages, the relationship between marriage and time, and infidelities in marriages. We also examined the origins of the words. We classified the words according to their structures and demonstrated the Turkish Language's power of derivation and unification.
