Examination of Abbas Cılga's children's books in terms of vocabulary and teaching in Turkish

"Turkish language is one of the richest languages; as long as this language is consciously processed." As stated in words of the great leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk; it is significant to carry on conscious studies on Turkish language. One of the most important elements of these studies is the determination of the rich vocabularies that our language has. Vocabulary is a concept that includes elements such as proverbs, idioms, reduplications, terms, foreign words and set phrases in a language. In this study, it is aimed to examine the vocabulary elements of children's books named "Abbas Cılga'ya ait Atmacalar Ağladı, Çiftlikteki Yabancı, Dedemin Öyküleri, Dokunduğum Altın Olsun, Gülümseyen Sokak, Herodot Dede, Kim Sevmez Uğurböceklerini?, Masa Üstündeki Kavga, Müjdeci Hüsnü, Sesini İsteyen Kurbağa, Sıpanın Dört Yıllığı, Şaşar Ali, Yaramazlar Kuyusu, Yavru Yunuslar Ekibi, Yusufcuk". The elements of the vocabulary are determined in the works examined in the form of proverbs, idioms, set phrases, reduplications, terms, slang words, Anatolian dialects, foreign words and stereotyped words and the use frequency of them is detected. Some vocabulary elements in the tables are given at the end of the table in the form of witnessed statements. Vocabulary teaching activities for the established vocabulary elements are designed. This study is a descriptive research in the form of scanning. In this descriptive study, a situation that already exists, is tried to be described as it is by using the document analysis method. In the data obtained, the numbers and the frequency of occurence of proverbs and idioms; the numbers, the frequency of occurrence and the formation patterns of reduplications; the numbers and the frequency of occurrence of terms and the science it is related to; the numbers and the freuency of occurrence of the set phrases and the context they are used; the numbers, the frequency of occurrence and the source languages of foreign words; the frequency of occurrence of Anatolian dialects; the page numbers of stereotyped words and to whom that words belong are tried to be examined in this study. In this study, 9706 vocabulary elements are examined. As a result of the study, 37 proverbs, 1703 idioms, 808 reduplications, 816 set phrases, 2707 foreign words, 7 slang words, 284 filler words, 3233 terms, 118 Anatolian dialects and 3 stereotyped words are determined.
