Abstract (EN)

The metal sector has always been among the sectors with the highest number of occupational accidents. While the metal sector plays a major role in the country's economy, it continues to be the sector where fatal work accidents are common among all sectors. Since it is a sector where occupational accidents are experienced intensively, necessary occupational health and safety measures should be constantly updated and developed. With the development of technology, ergonomic work tools used today are among the most important measures necessary to protect worker health. The metal sector creates employment for many sub-sectors. At the beginning of these; Main metal and fabricated metal products manufacturing (excluding machinery and equipment) are their fields of activity. Each sub-field of activity in the sector contains health and safety hazards that require different health and safety measures. On the other hand, occupational accidents in workplaces are increasing day by day due to failure to take precautions. All of these accidents in the workplace are preventable when the necessary OHS measures are taken and these measures are strengthened with the necessary training. In this study, in terms of data received from SGK, work accidents between 2007-2020 and deaths due to these work accidents were examined according to sub-activity areas in the sector. In this study, which was carried out to examine the hazards of the metal sector, occupational accidents in the years 2007-2020 and the frequency of deaths due to these occupational accidents were calculated, and solutions were offered to reduce the rates of work accidents and occupational accidents resulting in death. In this research, the years 2007-2013 are divided into two as the first 7-year period and the years 2014-2020 as the second 7-year period. The change between these two 7-year periods, which constitute the two sample groups, was statistically examined for occupational accidents and fatal occupational accidents.
