Abstract (EN)
The use of composite structures is increasing day by day all over the world because they combine the superior properties of structural steel and reinforced concrete and have superior properties compared to traditional steel or reinforced concrete building systems. Buildings to be constructed in a highly seismic geography such as Türkiye must be earthquake resistant and have low initial construction and operating costs. Composite structures are one of the suitable structural systems for Türkiye's conditions, and the use of composite structures is increasing day by day in Türkiye as well as all over the world. In this thesis, the design of composite buildings, which are different from the reinforced concrete buildings commonly used in Türkiye, is investigated. The structural behavior and structural systems costs of composite buildings were examined through a sample building. For this purpose, a sample office building with a frame structural system was selected, and designs for reinforced concrete, steel, and composite structural systems were made in accordance with the Turkish Building Earthquake Code 2019 (TBEC 2019), Principles on Design, Calculation and Construction of Steel Structures 2018 (RDCCPSS 2018) and the Design and Construction Rules for Reinforced Concrete Structures 2000 (TS 500) and the analysis results and structural systems costs were compared.
