Abstract (EN)

SUMMARY The title of the thesis is "The Thermal Behaviors of Briquettes Produced in Turkey". Briquette is commonly produced and used in Turkey as a building component. In this study, the thermal conductivity coefficients of the briquettes sampled and gathered from different parts of Turkey were experimentally obtained. Suggestions associated with the improvement of the negative characteristics of the briquettes were given. The work consists of three main chapters and one supplementary section. The first chapter focuses on the definition, production, physical properties and the application of the briquette. In the second chapter, the technical concepts associated with the topic are explained and the apparatus measures heat loss together with the methods and techniques used during the work was detailed. Thermal conductivity coefficients together with the specific gravities, unit volume weights,- unit weights, and unit surface weights on a dry basis were obtained from the briquettes sampled. Results obtained from the study were summarized in the third chapter. An evaluation of the aggregate ratios of the briquettes in terms of the dimension and thermal conductivity was carried out. To improve the characteristics of the briquettes, a new briquette was designed in the direction of the evaluation carried out. These new briquettes designed based on the principle of aerated double layer wall were investigated experimentally and theoretically. The results associated with the thermal conductivity coefficients are given in the supplementary section. Key words : Briquette, pumice, concrete block, thermal conductivity, thermal conductivity coefficient.
