Abstract (EN)

Today, as a result of industrialization, people have started to live more in cities, which has led to an increase in pollutants in air, water and soil, climate change, unhealthy urbanization and destruction of forests. Many countries have been acted together internationally to solve these environmental problems. In Türkiye, laws have been enacted, plans have been passed, policies have been implemented and reports have been prepared by the relevant institutions and organizations to prevent environmental problems. Türkiye Environmental Problems and Priorities Assessment Reports, a total of 10 of which were published, the first in 2008 and the last in 2023, are an important resource for the solution of environmental problems. These reports were prepared within the Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, with the contributions of the Directorate General of Environmental Impact Assessment, Permit and Inspection. Reports have been address the causes of environmental issues, proposed solutions, and related concepts. Knowing the concepts well and performing conceptual analyses will contribute to the solution of environmental problems in future reports. In this context, the main purpose of the study is to examine the concepts related to environmental problems in the Türkiye Environmental Problems and Priorities Assessment Reports comparatively with numerical data. In this study, the content analysis method was used. In this method, the co-occurrence frequencies of words and word groups are identified to obtain information about the topics within the research field. In the study, 105 sub-concepts were analyzed under 9 main environmental problem headings. Maxqda program was used in the numerical analysis of words and generation of word clouds. Water pollution has the highest number with 936 repetitions among the nine main environmental problems. Additionally, among the 105 sub-concepts, water is the most frequently used word with 5338 repetitions. Food pollution, radioactive contamination, light pollution, and electromagnetic wave pollution are not addressed in the Environmental Problems and Priorities Assessment Reports of Türkiye. New concept research can be carried out by including these environmental problems in reports in the coming years. In addition, it is thought that a contribution will be made to the literature by comparing concepts related to environmental problems in reports prepared by countries, public and private sectors.
