Research on Syrian refugees' career resilience in Turkey

The aim of the research is to examine the career resilience of successful Syrian Refugees in Turkey, to predict the basis of this success and to shed light on the development of a proper career counseling service model. While examining the career resilience of refugees, risk and protective factors were taken into account. In this context, interviews were held with 9 Syrian immigrants who came to Turkey due to the war, continue their university education life, attach importance to career development, and have a place in the business world. In line with the research, "phenomenology study", one of the qualitative research types, was used. The "Career Resilience of Refugee Immigrants Interview Form" consisting of eight semi-structured questions developed by the researcher was used. According to the findings obtained from the interviews, in addition to the fact that the participants have the skills of adaptability and self-efficacy in the self-esteem factor, which is one of the career resilience factors, internal factors such as hope, patience and perseverance play an important role in the resilience process. It is among the findings that the participants started from scratch in areas such as academia and career together with the migration process, they made an effort to seize opportunities together with the desire to prove themselves, and they needed guidance in this process. In addition to the importance of self-esteem, adaptability and the concept of family in resisting the uncertainties faced by the participants who migrated to Turkey, their participation in various courses in order to overcome the foreign language barrier they encounter and their attempt to learn to learn with internal factors such as patience and perseverance are among the career stories they create together with the migration process. Starting from scratch while carrying the traces of the past, researching and evaluating career and educational opportunities is suitable for the definition of career resilience, struggling with difficulties and overcoming the obstacles encountered.
