Abstract (EN)
Energy consumption is rising globally and in Türkiye, increasing reliance on nonrenewable resources with harmful environmental effects. Renewable energy (RE) sources, particularly solar energy, are gaining attention for their cleaner nature and adaptability. In Türkiye, the potential for floating photovoltaic (FPV) systems is significant due to the large number of suitable dams. However, research on FPV systems remains limited, focusing mainly on site selection. This study addresses this gap by examining critical factors for FPV system success using the Critical Success Factor (CSF) method along with qualitative and quantitative methods. A literature review identified 17 essential CSFs, followed by a survey targeting academia and the private sector. Using a Likert Scale, participants rated the importance of each CSF, and statistical analysis compared responses across groups. Out of 412 people contacted, 90 valid responses were received, providing a solid dataset for analysis. Factor analysis grouped CSFs into three main categories: Energy Optimization, Community Engagement, and Economic Sustainability. Key CSF groupings demonstrated the interconnectivity of environmental sustainability, economic feasibility, and stakeholder collaboration, providing a holistic perspective for FPV implementation in Türkiye. This study contributes to the literature by offering a roadmap for all stakeholders for evaluating FPV systems beyond site selection. Findings guide policymakers and investors in prioritizing resources to enhance FPV adoption, emphasizing the importance of addressing country-specific challenges and resource availability. Additionally, the insights underscore the value of aligning RE strategies with global sustainability goals while considering local economic conditions.
