Abstract (EN)

In his thesis titled "An Assessment of Economic Macroinvertebrates in Turkish Seas with Regards to Small Scale Fisheries"; the regional distributions and catch amounts of macroinvertebrate species that are caught by the small-scale fishing fleet in the seas of our country and have economic value were examined according to the provinces, the methods and fishing gear used in the fishing of these species were determined, and the characteristics of the most used fishing gear for each species were determined. In this context, by working in the data research center of the Turkish Statistical Institute, all the individual survey data related to the catch amounts and catches of the economical macroinvertebrate species caught by small-scale fisheries among the three-year fisheries microdata between the years 2018-2020 were analyzed and analyzed with various statistical programs. In addition, in line with the interviews with the fishermen, the characteristics of the most used fishing gear in the fishing of each species were determined. According to the data obtained, there are a total of 20 macroinvertebrate species that are economically fished by small-scale fisheries in Turkey and whose data can be accessed, and species that are statistically included under the other title and whose names are not reported. While collecting data on small-scale fisheries, which is the defined as a local activity, the amount of macroinvertebrate fish caught as a result of large-scale fishing activities in the same region was also taken in order to reveal the situation of hunting in the region in terms of macroinvertebrate species. These local data taken on a provincial basis and the place of small-scale fishing catches in the calculated total catch amounts are reported with the help of graphics and tables for each species. Besides, the catch ratio of all macroinvertebrate species caught in Turkish waters by small-scale fisheries according to total landings for 2018, 2019 and 2020 were calculated as 14.24%, 13.99% and 18.95%, respectively.
