Abstract (EN)

This study has researched the idea of human rights? historical improvement andit?s reflection on the primary education?s lesson books in Turkey. The development of thehuman rights notion is explained in the first section of this study. The second sectionexamines the Turkish peoples? human rights understanding. The third section which is themain point of this research has been explaining the idea of human rights at Turkish cultureand how to explain it on the mentioned lesson books by focusing on the acquirementsof ??Primary Citizenship and Human Right Education??. Eventually, an institutionalizedstructure was established in the Republic of Turkey by changing some laws and regulations inorder to protect the human rights. At Primary Schools Human Rights Lessons have takenplace as a main class, also .However, ?Citizenship and human rights education? books inprimary schools are distant from the national history?s understanding of human rights, as theytell that the idea of human rights starts with Tanzimat Fermanı in 1839(historical period inOttoman) and have been laid out in an accepted way by the west. The presentation of humanrights education together with the accumulated Turkish history and culture will facilitate theunderstanding and perception of human rights.Key Words: Human rights, primary education, school book.
