Background to political transformation process of Turkish Worker Party (1961-1969)

In this study, background of political transformation of Turkey Worker Party (TİP-Türkiye İşçi Partisi) was sought to enlighten in order to trace its position and legacy among leftist polity. To do so, previous leftist political parties and groups which were effective in the political life of Turkey have been chronologically taken under examination. In due course, inherited leftist legacy which was infiltrated into TİP has been determined. Following that, by picturing political atmosphere in which TİP was established, foundation process and the ground on which TİP was formed are analyzed. Eventually, from the commencement of the Party in 1961 to the last party congress in 1969, breaking points such as its political activities, general, senate and local elections that it participated and their results, ordinary and extraordinary party congress, and its relations with other leftist socio-political groups have all taken under microscope. The results of these examinations are emphasized. The scene coming out of this examination indicates that party congress and general assemblies in which political parties should evolve in accordance to the political and social developments generally ended with disagreements and followed up with exportations or discharges of internal oppositions.
