Problems of vocational education system in Turkey: A qualitative research in Kirklareli province

The subject of the research is the problems of the vocational education system in Turkey, especially in Kırklareli province. Apprenticeship education, which plays an important role in raising intermediate staff for the labor market in Turkey, is faced with various criticisms today. For this reason, in this study, the problems of the education system and solution proposals are discussed. In this context, first of all, the conceptual framework of the apprenticeship system was examined in order to evaluate the apprenticeship phenomenon from a holistic perspective. In addition to the historical development of the apprenticeship education system, the basic elements and applications of the currently applied system have been revealed. In the second part of the study, the legal regulations regarding the apprenticeship education system and the apprenticeship education system implemented in Turkey were examined, and the apprenticeship education and development project programs were also mentioned. In the third part of the study, the perceptions of vocational teachers and administrators in vocational education institutions regarding the problems of the vocational education system in Turkey were tried to be revealed. In this context, in-depth interviews, which is one of the qualitative research methods, were conducted with teachers and administrators working in vocational education institutions (Vocational Education Center and Vocational High Schools) in the central district of Kırklareli province during the 2021-2022 education period.
