Abstract (EN)

In today's globalizing world, the consequences of financial crises are becoming even more important because many countries feel the fluctuations in prices in international financial markets. Financial crises have been experienced from time to time in many parts of the world since the 1970s and the sector most affected by the financial crises is the banking sector. In this context, this thesis aims to investigate the effects of the financial crises in the last 30 years on the Turkish banking sector both theoretically and empirically. Empirically, revealing the balance sheet values and financial ratios of the banks subject to the study using the ratio analysis technique compares the effects of the financial crises on banking sector between the years of 1992-2010 for the six selected banks. It is generally accepted that the Turkish banking sector is more affected by the 2001 financial crisis. With the effect of the measures taken after the 2001 crisis, it is observed that the Turkish Banking sector is less affected by economic problems.
