The refugee problem in Turkey and legal aspect

Asylum has reached the highest level today, especially due to the domestic conflicts that occurred in the Middle East and Africa in 21st Century. Particularly, refugees leaving their country by reason of domestic conflicts in Syria are being hosted mainly in Turkey, Lebanon and Jordan. However, European countries did not want to confront the migration issue, which in fact has been a global problem. As the refugee problem reached out to the West and began to feature in Europe, Western countries have begun to take measures and precautions regarding the problem. As a consequence, they have started to accept refugees in patches. Furthermore, they have made new regulations in the international law framework. Turkey, too, has revised her refugee and immigration policies and made new arrangements. With these new arrangements, Turkey wanted to bring an order to her immigration policy as well as minimising the refugee problems. In the very same process, refugee problems in Turkey have been analysed and the legal aspects of these problems have been examined in the framework of basic laws from past to present. Additionaly, this thesis aims to reveal the social and economic grievances faced by those, who had to leave their homeland because of their nationalities, religions, breed and diverse political thoughts; as well as the human rights problems in the legal framework. Another aim of this thesis is to enable the local community, along with their cultural conflict, to acknowledge the problems that the refugees are facing.
