Comparative investigation of magnetic force parameters of three seeded YBCO superconductor for maglev systems

Abstract (EN)
In this performed PhD thesis, both the magnetic levitation force and guidance force parameters of three seeded YBCO superconductor were investigated for technological applicability of Maglev systems. The pole directions, arrangement and compatibility of the magnets in magnetic guideways are important to improve the magnetic flux gradient of the medium. For this purpose, both the vertical and lateral magnetic force and stiffness performances between three seeded YBCO superconductor and the configurations which are formed for permanent magnet guideways were evaluated. In addition to this, the hybrid arrangements were produced by using additional permanent magnets in sample vessel with different vertical positions. The levitation force values of these all PMG-HTS configurations were investigated under the field cooling (FC) and zero field cooling (ZFC) conditions. Additionally, the numerical modelling was made with package programme using finite elements method, to determine the optimum PMG magnetic field distribution to improve the magnetic levitation and guidance forces of superconductor Maglev systems. It is seen that in zero field cooling regime to obtain maximum vertical magnetic force by considering cross section area of PMG and unit PMG-YBCO cost, PMG arrangement with three magnets is more convenient than arrangement with five magnets. Also, in field cooling regime to obtain maximum guidance force by PMG arrangement with five magnets, it is found that PMG with small cross sectional area (PMG-1c) is more convenient than PMG with high cost and large cross sectional area (PMG-H3c). In performed study it is seen that due to the supercurrent coupling maximum vertical and lateral force values of three seeded YBCO superconductor is 1,19 and 1,62 times bigger than one seeded YBCO superconductor respectively and also by using onboard magnets with suitable position load capacity of superconductors can enhanced without lose in guidance force.
