The right to food in international law

In this study, the normative content of the right to food, which is recognized particularly in the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, various international human rights treaties and soft-law instruments, and the obligations arising from the relevant right are scrutinized. In this context, along with the evaluation of different forms and levels of hunger, in what ways the violations of the right to food occur are set forth. Furthermore, the existing mechanisms of international law for violations of the right to food are evaluated in a comprehensive manner. Finally, the steps to be taken for the realization of the right to food for all in an efficient manner, both in international law and national law, which is one of the instruments for the fulfilment of the obligations arising from international law, are offered as possible solutions.
