Türkiye-NATO cooperation in the fight against international terrorism: The example of center of excellence defense against terrorism

Nowadays, terrorism is encountered as one of the most important issues that threatens national and international security. Terrorist acts threaten stability and peace by causing the loss of lives of innocent people, social chaos and economic damage.Therefore, struggling with terrorism effectively has become one of the main agenda items of the international community. NATO is one of the most important international security organizations in the stuggle against terrorism. NATO's experience, expertise and opportunities are considered as an important resource to strengthen the security capabilities of member countries and co-partners in the struggle against terrorism. In this context, Türkiye-NATO cooperation plays an important role in the struggle against terrorism. This thesis examines Türkiye's fight against terrorism in cooperation with NATO. Espacially, Türkiye's counter terrorism strategies and its role in supporting NATO's effort are explored. Also, the support mechanisms that NATO provides for Türkiye, such as the Counter-Terrorism Center of Excellence are exemplified. The study aims to contribute to international efforts to combat terrorism by evaluating the activities of Türkiye-NATO cooperation in the struggle against terrorism.
