Use of electronic information systems in international trade and the competitive advantage provided

With globalization, as in many areas in the world, borders have become insignificant in trade and therefore a fierce competition has begun to occur. With the establishment of the GATT in 1947, the abolition of tariffs and quotas has further expanded global trade by reducing trade barriers. Countries and organizations that trade internationally for various reasons use different resources to maintain their presence in this competitive environment. Social, economic and technological changes have also affected the commercial system and competitiveness in global markets. Therefore, it is seen that the resources that provide a competitive advantage change after the transition from industrial society to information society. Being able to exist in existing global markets is closely related to the strategic use of information. It is not possible for organizations that do not benefit from information efficiently to succeed. Information systems that provide support to organizations in decision processes and all other activities are an indispensable element for businesses. In this study, which carried out the aim of examining the electronic information systems used in enterprises and revealing the competitive advantage it provides in global markets, a literature review was conducted. In the study, the concept of information systems was used instead of electronic information systems. The results showed that the necessary information was obtained quickly and reliably thanks to information systems, which provided organizations with very significant competitive advantages.
