Abstract (EN)

This prospective, randomized study compares Stoppa repair and TEP hernia repair among a total of 50 patients in terms of isometric and isokinetic analysis of activity limitation, postoperative analgesic requirement, VAS and early postoperative complications. The results were compared with literature datas. Postoperative analgesic requirement, complications, VAS after activity is correlated with many reported articles in literature. Digital parameters obtained with Cybex machine on the 3. day after operation reflects that Stoppa repair cause strength loss more than TEP repair. Labor strength loss, while in flexion at 30ºe/sec isometric muscle measurement and 180º/sec velocity is found decreased with Stoppa repair. However, in genral, loss of strength is decreased with TEP repair; the difference between Stoppa and TEP is found statistically significant in terms of 90º/sec isokinetic muscle measurement at extension, 90º/sec isokinetic muscle measurement at flexion, 180º/sec isokinetic muscle measurement at extension and 180º/sec isokinetic lost of total work done at extension (p<0.05). Our study is the first comparative prospective study for the same anatomic site revealing the positive effect of laparoscopic hernia repair on physical activities with quantitative results. Key words: Unilateral inguinal hernia, Cybex machine, Stoppa, TEP, laparoscopy, physical activity.
