Abstract (EN)
This aim of this research is investigation of the relationship between alexithymia, need for affect, self-monitoring, identity and social media addiction in university students. The sample of the current study consisted of 482 students (334 female/ 148 male) associate, undergraduate and graduate students studying at Aksaray University in the 2020-2021 academic year. The research is a quantitative research in relational scanning model. Measurement tools used in the research that Toronto Alexityhmia Scale, Need For Affect Scale, Self-Monitoring Scale, Identity Scale and Social Media Addiction Scale. The analyses of the research were conducted by SPSS program. Research findings showed that university students had a low negative correlation between alexithymia, need for emotion and self-regulation skills. In addition, while there was no significant relationship between alexithymia and identity, it was found that there was a low level of positive correlation between alexithymia and social media addiction.
