Investigation of the relationship between cyber human values, internet gaming disorder, and psychological resilience in university students

In this study, the relationship between internet gaming disorder, cyber human values, and psychological resilience are investigated. The sample of the research consists of 813 university students studying in the 2019-2020 academic year in Turkey. Data was collected by the application of the Internet Gaming Disorder Scale - Short Form, Cyber Human Values Scale, and Resilience Scale for Adults. Data were analyzed by One Way Anova and Independent t-test. The relationship between cyber human values, psychological resilience, and internet gaming disorder was investigated through the application of the Pearson Correlation analysis method. Multiple Regression Analysis was conducted to determine the predictive level of the Cyber Human Values Scale scores and Psychological Resilience Scale scores on Internet Gaming Disorder Scale scores. When the regression analysis results are examined; perception of the self, planned future, structured style, solidarity, and peacefulness sub-dimensions are observed to be predictors. Social resources, social competence, family cohesion, respect, accuracy - honesty, and tolerance sub-dimensions were not observed to be predictors. According to the results of the correlation analysis, a statistically positive significant relationship was found between cyber human values scores and psychological resilience scores. Also, a statistically negative significant relationship was found between both variables and online gaming disorder scores. The data obtained as a result of the analysis were discussed in line with the studies in the literature. Keywords: Cyber Human Values, Psychological Resilience, Internet Gaming Disorder
