Examination of university students' love attitudes in terms of attachment and identity styles

Abstract (EN)

The aim of the study was to examine the relationship between university students' love attitudes and attachment and identity styles. The research is in relational screening model. The study group of the research consists of 397 students between the ages of 18-29 studying at Sütçü İmam University. Love Attitude Scale, Experiences in Close Relationships Inventory, Identity Styles Scale-5 and Personal Information Form were used as data collection tools in the research. SPSS package program was used for data analysis in the research. Independent Group T Test, Multiple Regression Analysis and Pearson Product Moments Correlation Coefficient Test were used to analyze the data. According to the findings of the study, male participants achieved significantly higher scores in ludus and agape compared to female participants. It was revealed that the participants who were in a relationship had significantly higher scores on eros, ludus, storge, and agape compared to the non-relationship participants. According to the correlation results; It was found that there is a positive and significant relationship between anxious attachment and ludus, storge, pragma, mania and agape. Negatively between avoidant attachment and eros, storge and agape; A significant positive relationship was found with pragma. A positive and significant relationship was found between the avoidance oriented identity style and ludus, storge, pragma, mania and agape. There is a positive relationship between informational-oriented identity style and eros, storge and pragma; A negative significant relationship was found between and ludus. A positive and significant relationship was found between norm-oriented identity style and eros, ludus, storge, pragma, mania ve agape. As a result of the research, it was seen that individuals' attachment and identity styles had an effect on their love attitudes.
