University students' leisure investigation of relationship between social cohesion and communication skills

The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between university students? free time assessment, social consistency and communication skills according to certain variables.The Black Sea Technical University students constitute the universe of the research, and 407 of the university students constitute the sample of this study. A four-part scale has been used for determine of relationship between students' demographic information, their free time assessment, social consistency and communication skills.The frequency and percentage of obtained data from the scale has been determined; for differences between free time assessments, social consistency and communication skills of the students, t-test and variance analysis has been done. The significance level for the analysis has been determined as p<0.05. The SPSS 15.0 statistical program has been used for evaluation of the data.The %53.1 of the students were "male", %46.4 of them "17-20 years old", %53.3 were "student of physical education", %26.5 were "students of 2. grade", %73 " her/his mother behaved normally", %70.8 "her/his father behaved normally", %55.3 were a "moderate level of income" status, %55" his/her mother graduated from an elementary school", %42.3 "his/her father graduated from secondary school". In terms of departments that the students were studying in; meaningful significance has been found in favor of "Other Departments' students" as regards free time assessment, social consistency and communication skills.As a result of comparison differences of free time assessment, social consistency and communication skills level of the "Physical Education Department", "Classroom Teaching Department" and "Other Departments" of the university students involved in the research; meaningful significance has been found in favor of Other Departments' students.Keywords: Free Time, Social Consistency, Communication.
