Abstract (EN)
One of the important skills that will increase the living standards for lives of individuals is social problem solving. Metacognition activities are also high in individuals with high social problem solving skills. In this study, it is aimed to determine the relationship between university students' metacognition levels and social problem solving skills. 350 undergraduate students, who were selected with convenience sampling method, participated in the research, 149 of whom were women in 201. Sociodemographic Information Form, Social Problem Solving Inventory Short Form (SPÇE-KS) and Metacognition Scale-30 (ÜBÖ-30) were applied as data collection tools in the study. Data obtained in the study was analyzed using the SPSS 21.0 package program. The study found a negatively significant relationship between the metacognition levels of the participants and social problem solving skills. It is possible to say that the need to control thoughts from the lower dimensions of the metacognition has the highest share in the description of social problem solving skills.The positive faith dimension has emerged as the lowest share in this relationship. The analysis results concluded that the metacognition skills were a significant pain in problem solving skills. Working on metacognition system which affects individuals' monitoring, assessing, and activating their cognitive processes including their beliefs has an important effect on the solution of social problems.
