The effect of UV-C light on biochemical parameters microorganisims and investigation of microbial adaptations

In this study the effect of UV-C light on the total protein, advanced oxidized protein, GSH, MDA and lipid composition parameters of Fusarium moniliforme, Fusarium semitectum, Fusarium culmorum, Fusarium proliferatum and E. coli were investigated. All tests were performedin two sets including control and sample in control and sample in 25ºC. In this context two samples prepared from each microorganis mand one of them was subjected to UV rays. Some alterations in biochemical parametres were observed in all UV treated groups. An increase in total protein, advanced oxidized protein, GSH, MDA levels and signifi cant changes in lipid compositions of Fusarium moniliforme, Fusarium semitectum, Fusarium culmorum, Fusarium proliferatum and E. coli were observed. The protein levels of UV treated Fusarium moniliforme and Fusarium semitectum were 1.19 and 4.31 times higher than control counterpart, respectively. Similiarly, after UV treatment oxidized protein, GSH levels of Fusarium culmorum were in creased signifi cantly. In Fusarium semitectum the level of MDA was in creased 14.74 nmol.mL-1 to 33.33 nmol.mL-1 after UV treatment. Significant changes in lipid profile of UV treated microorganisms were observed and significant decreases were observed in unsaturated lipid profile of microorganisms. From the results it was observed that UV had a significant effect on biochemical effects of microorganisms and it was determiden that the microorganisms were adapted to UV by the in creasing saturated lipid levels.
