Abstract (EN)

As in the rest of the world, the increasing demand for energy and irregular structuring in our country that due to by rapid population growth, negatively affect the air quality. In order to bring the air quality to the levels that will not adversely affect the health of human and other living organisms, it is necessary to determine the current air pollution and take precautions to increase the air quality. Innovations in satellite systems in parallel to the development of technology has enabled these systems to be used in different disciplines. As a result of these developments, it is possible to determine the parameters of air pollution and produce the thematic map of the current situation by using satellite images. Within the scope of this thesis, 2 Landsat-8 satellite images that belongs the dates of 16.07.2018, 20.10.2018 and PM₁₀ samples obtained from the field studies at these dates were used as the main data source. These satellite images primarily were corrected radiometrically. Afterwards, using the reflection values obtained from the satellite images and the PM₁₀ values surveyed in the field, the coefficients obtained by using multiple regression method (MRM) were applied to the bands of the satellite images and the result thematic maps were produced. The results show that the PM₁₀ values in residential areas are unlikely to affect public health compared to other areas such as organized industry. However, in traffic and industrial areas high levels of PM₁₀ values were determined. The data obtained from this study were compared and interpreted with the other data obtained from the continuously operation station owned by the T.C Ministry of Environment and Urban Planning.
