Opinions of teachers, students, parents and administrators on the effectiveness of the science course conducted by online education

The aim of this study is to investigate the opinions of teachers, students, parents and administrators regarding the effectiveness of science lessons through online education by using mixed methods including qualitative and quantitative dimensions.. The inclusion of this research is science teachers, secondary school students and their parents, and administrators working in the secondary school in the city center of Antalya and Korkuteli district in the academic year of 2020-2021. In the quantitative dimension of the study, 130 science teachers, 140 middle school students, 120 parents and 122 administrators constitute the sample of the study. The questionnaire form prepared by the researcher was applied online through Google documents and data was collected. The data were analyzed by statistical analysis methods. According to the results of the research; Face-to-face education is considered to be more effective due to the high number of students who cannot attend classes due to inequality of opportunity in education, lack of infrastructure and lack of interaction in distance education. In the qualitative dimension of the study, there are 5 science teachers, 5 secondary school students, 5 parents and 5 administrators. The semi-structured interview questions prepared by the researcher were directed to the participants and the data were analyzed with content analysis. According to the analysis made; it has been concluded that integrating online education with face-to-face education would be beneficial, but the science lesson conducted only with online education is less efficient than face-to-face education.
