The effects of working in shifts on turnover intension: An application in five-star city hotels in Bursa

Abstract (EN)

In this study, turnover intentions of employees working in shifts in the five-star city hotels in Bursa are tried to be determined. The relationship between demographic characteristics of employees and working in shifts and turnover intention is also investigated. Survey technique has been used in this context as a means of data collection, a total of 242 questionnaires were evaluated in employee surveys. The survey results were analyzed using SPSS 18.0 statistical package software and the perceptions of employees working in shifts and statements related to their turnover intentions are interpreted by examining it from the statistical point of view. According to the findings of the study, working in shifts has a significant effect on intention to leave work. A positive correlation has been identifed between working in shifts and to leave work. Accordingly, one unit negative thought for the working in shifts increases the employees? intention to leave work at 0,604 level. In other words, employees' intentions to leave work increase if they have negative thoughts for working in shifts. Keywords: Shift Work, Turnover Intention, Five-Star Hotel, Employee.
