Özet (EN)
In this research, death anxiety of people at the age of 18 and over, living in İstanbul, was examined in terms of gender, age, income status, education level, religiosity, place of birth / residence, losing a close person and near-death experience variables. The research group of the study, used relational screening method, consist of 411 people who are at the age of 18 and over, living in İstanbul. "Personal Information Form" and "Death Anxiety Scale" were used in the research. In the analysis of data via SPSS 22.0; t-test, one-way variance analysis and post-hoc analysis were used. As a result of the independent sample t test on the responses of 290 women and 72 men participating in our study, a significant difference was found between women and men in the level of death anxiety (p = .0). According to this result, women experience more death anxiety than men on average. As a result of single factor variance analysis (ANOVA) used to measure whether there is a relationship between age variable and death anxiety, no statistical difference was found (p = 0.43). In our study, the relationship between the education levels of the participants and the average of death anxiety score was examined by one-way analysis of variance, a significant difference was found between the education level and the death anxiety scale score (p = 0.02). According to this result, the highest level of death anxiety was found in primary school graduates and the lowest level was found among university graduates. As a result of the research, no significant difference was found between the place where the participants were born / raised and their death anxiety scores (p = 0.91). Independent t test was applied to compare the variable of 'losing a close person' and no statistical difference was found (p = 0.18). However, people who have close experience of death have higher level of death anxiety. When the answers given to the question "Have you ever met the death of your loved one / loved one?" Were compared, there was no statistically significant difference (p = 0.84). Death anxiety scores of those who said 'I am a little religious' and 'I am religious' were found significantly higher than those who said 'I am not religious at all' and 'I am very religious' (p = 0.01). According to this result, it was found that those who say "I am not religious at all" and those who perceive themselves as "very religious" experience less death anxiety than those who perceive themselves as "a little religious" or "religious". As a result of examining the relationship between death anxiety and income status variable as existential problem, no significant relationship was found (p = 0.64). As a result of analyzing the data, obtained from the answers given by the participants, it was found that participants experienced a low level of death anxiety. It was found that it was significantly different with gender, religiosity and education levels. On the other hand, in terms of age, place of birth / growth, income status and in the questions of "Have you ever had a memory that you thought you were very close to death?" and "Have you met the death of your relative / loved one that deeply affected you?", no significant difference is found.
