Examination of children's books of Vladimir Tumanov in terms of fundamental elements of children literature

ABSTRACT Language is the most important factor in expressing our feelings and thoughts to other people. In this case, the literature which is an "art of verbal and written shaping of events, thoughts, feelings and dreams through language" has a big portion in terms of expressing oneself more accurately, explaining his or her feelings and thoughts accurately and fluently and understanding what is being said completely. In this context, in order to raise a generation that thinks, queries, interprets and criticizes, children should be acquired the habit and pleasure of reading. The children who have met with qualified children's literature products, enriches their dreams, feelings and thoughts in a natural learning environment and achieves the intended goal. Children's books, one of the most important tools of children's literature has a big place at the phase of making children acquire a love of boks and reading habits to children. The children who are the owner of the future need to be provided with qualified children's books which are written in accordance with the principle of appropriateness for the children starting from the pre-school. In this study, children's books of Vladimir Tumanov, which are read with love by children have been examined in terms of the basic elements of children's literature. Document analysis, one of the qualitative research methods have been used in this research. The first part of this research, which comprises of five parts, is the introduction part. In the introduction part, the problem, problem statement, sub-problems, limitations, goal and importance of the study have been indicated. In the second part, the theoretical framework of the study has been drawn and subjects such as children and children's literature, children's literature in the world and in Turkey, the importance of children's literature in acquiring reading culture, the qualities of children's books, the selection of children's books according to age periods, the basic elements that should be in children's books have been included. In the third part, information related to the model of the research, study materials, data collection tools and data analysis have been given. Information about the findings of the study and the interpretation of the findings have been given in the fourth part. In the fifth part, the conclusion, discussion and suggestions which have been reached based on the findings of the study have been included. In this study, Vladimir Tumanov children's books have been examined in terms of the basic elements of children's literature. Examined books have been evaluated in terms of both format features and content features. As a result of this examination, it has been determined that the books are suitable for child-readers, providing that a few formal lacknesses and some spelling and punctuation errors are fixed.
