Aesthetics and policy in Walter Benjamin

This study aims to examine Walter Benjamin's basic concepts, to reveal his thoughts on the relationship between aesthetics and politics, and to critically reveal the meaning of the aestheticization of politics under the political and cultural structure of the period. In the first part of the study, the positioning of the important concepts in the history of philosophy in Benjamin's philosophy is discussed. In the second part, Benjamin's modernity, fascism, violence, aura, war etc. It examines how he handles the concepts. Criticizing the melting of aesthetics into war elements along with fascism, Benjamin also discusses the effects of the unstoppable progress of technical devices on art in this context. With capitalism, politics is presented to modern people in an aesthetic way and is shown as a cult value. Alienation and commodification have become an inseparable part of modern man, and this has adversely affected the social structure. The philosopher, who critically deals with the extension of the relationship between aesthetics and politics in the history of philosophy, to the contemporary period, in this context, especially cares about the aesthetic ideas of Kant and the German Romantics, and shows influences from these philosophers in his unique ideas. When it comes to the last part, the importance of Benjamin's political and aesthetic thoughts, as well as the critical points in his philosophy on this issue are emphasized.
