Abstract (EN)

Thermal Coatings are extensively used to increase mechanical performance in aero engines. The coatings are not suitable to used as coated because of their large dimensional tolerances and high surface roughness, although they provide increment fatigue strength and wear resistance. Especially thermal coatings need grinding process in order to satisfy tight dimensional tolerances and low Ra. Grinding is a machining method that is performed by grinding tools including numerous abrasives on. There is inputs, useful and unuseful outputs in grinding operation as with other manufacturing methods. In order to get aimed output in desired level of cost and time, determining inputs in optimum level has importance. Up to date, the effect of spindle revolution, feed, cutting velocity and depth of cut on the micro structure and surface roughness of work piece and forces of grinding tool has been investigated. In the scope of this thesis, the effect of spindle revolution, feed, cutting velocity, depth of cut and grit size on the surface roughness of workpiece, wear of grinding tool, material removal rate and micro hardness of WC-12Co thermal spray coating by Taguchi design in cylindrical grinding machine.
