Effect of Web Based Peer and Self Evaluation on Student Achievement in Communication and Human Relations

In this research, the effect of web based peer and self evaluation on student achievement in communication and human relations has been studied. For this research, Communication and Human Relations Test, Communication and Human Relation Test Assessment Form, Peer and Self Evaluation Method Program, Peer and Self Evaluation User Manual were drafted. This research was conducted in the first semester of the 2013-2014 academic year with 355 seventh grade students in four secondary schools in Sincan district of Ankara. Seven teachers and two classes per teacher were participated in the study. Achievement scale on communication and human relations was conducted on all groups as preliminary test to determine the initial level of achievement of students. The study took eight weeks for all groups. Finally, as final test, communication and human relations achievement scale was applied to all groups. Descriptive statistics were done by using the data obtained from the preliminary and final tests. Results showed that the distribution of data of each variable was approximately normal. Single variable Anova analysis was used as inferential statistics. Anova results indicate significant achievement difference in favour of test groups. The results of the study supported that the web based peer and self evaluation method is an effective methodology in order to increase students' achievement in the context communication and relations abilities. The results are significant in fovour of test group compared to experimental groups. Female students were more successful than males. Students regarded web based peer and self evaluation method as easy, entertaining and useful. Keywords: Communication and human relations, web based peer and self evaluation.
