Abstract (EN)
The city of Van was one of the important centers of the Ottoman Empire in the province. Many Western travellers visited city of Van in the 19th century. This work is prepared by benefiting by western travel books of 19th century to contribute to the city history of Van. In the work is benefited in addition to travel books by made Studies of 19th century history of Van. This work consist of five chapters. In the first chapter are given the geographical structure of Van. In the second chapter are given the administrative structure of Van. In the third chapter are given social and cultural life in Van. In the fourth chapter are given economic structure of Van. In the fifth chapter are given historic works of Van. As a result, is achieved mostly consistent results compared the data contained in the travel books with other studies.
