Abstract (EN)
In the middle of the 19th century, Temettuât counts were made in order to determine the sources of income and to alleviate the tax burden that was unjustly taken from the people on the income they obtained. These censuses were made in the regions where the Tanzimat was followed, and thansk to the iformation they contained, they contributed to the social and economic structure of the cities, towns and villages in those regions. This study aimed to reveal the social ve economic life in the villages of Uzunköprü (Cisr-i Ergene) District, one of the regions where the Tanzimat Reforms were implemented in the mid-19th century. The records of the Temettuât Register of the Uzunköprü District of 1844 were handled in the light of yearbook data, sources and research works, and the demographic, administrative, social and economic life of the city during the Tanzimat period was examined in tables and graphics.
