The usage of creative drama method in teaching foreign languages, impact on critical, reflective thinking skills and the attitude foreign language learning of 12. grade students in high school

Aim of this study is to research about the effect of creative drama method on the 12th grade students' critical thinking disposition, reflective thinking level and on their attitude towards English course with in the units of "Art" and ''Tourism'' in English course. The study was designed in quasi-experimental pattern model with pretest posttest control group. The study was conducted with 37 students studying in the 12th grade. 18 of these students were assigned as treatment group, and 19 of them were assigned as control group. Each unit was taught during four weeks and in total 8 weeks (32 course hours) in the treatment group by using the lesson plans prepared by the researcher in accordance with creative drama method while in the control group by using the lesson plans of present course books applied by the same teacher according to the current teaching method. As data collection tools; the questioneries of Critical Thinking, Reflective Thinking and Attitude were conducted in both groups before and after the application. Data obtained from data collection tools were typed in SPSS program, and mean, standard deviation, frequency and percentage values of the data were analyzed with descriptive statistics.(ANOVA) In this experimental study, statistically significant difference was seen between reflective thinking and the average attitude of the treatment group students to whom creative drama method was applied was applied in favour of the treatment group. However, it was seen that there is no statistically significant difference between critical thinking disposition of the students.
