Abstract (EN)
İn this studys aims to investigate the impact of enriched books at the A1 level on language skills in teaching Turkish to foreign learners. Considering the importance of material selection and usage in foreign language instruction, a teaching program was implemented for A1-level students, incorporating enriched books. The study was designed as an experimental research project, involving 36 foreign language students learning Turkish at the A1 level. The participants were randomly assigned to control and experimental groups. The experimental group received an instructional program supported by enriched books, while the control group followed a traditional textbook-based instructional program. During the research process, a pre-test was administered to measure the participants' language skills. Subsequently, different instructional programs were implemented for the experimental and control groups. The teaching process took place through weekly lessons over a specific period. Following the instruction, a post-test was conducted to evaluate the participants' language skills. The results indicate a positive impact of enriched books on language skills. Students in the experimental group expanded their vocabulary through enriched books, improved their reading skills, enhanced their comprehension and usage of grammar, strengthened their listening comprehension abilities, and developed their speaking skills. Additionally, the experimental group showed higher motivation and confidence in language learning. The findings of this study demonstrate the contribution of enriched books in the development of language skills and the enhancement of learning motivation in teaching Turkish to foreign learners. Enriched books facilitated the expansion of students' vocabulary, understanding of grammar rules, and provided opportunities for practice. Moreover, these books increased students' confidence, leading to improved communication skills. This thesis highlights the significance of material selection and usage in teaching Turkish to foreign learners and illustrates the contribution of enriched books to the development of language skills. Employing diverse materials in language instruction is recommended as an effective strategy to enhance students' motivation, interest, and proficiency in language skills.
