Investigation of relationship between energy efficiency and insulate applications on vertical outer shell of building

That housing sector alone accounts for the most of energy consumption increases the significance of isolation in energy conservation. Due to the buildings which have been erected in recent years with no regard to local and climatic data concerning their location, building sector affects adversely national economy and energy consumption, an important problem. Therefore, by considering harmony of end products rising within the frame of owner ? designer ? builder ? user relationship, efficient solution offers must be suggested in establishing today?s dwellings accommodated with proper construction components and elements and designed regarding concerns over consuming energy consciously.The aim of this dissertation consisting of 5 main sections, results which it will present and the studies conducted on this subject are expressed in the introduction together with literature review. In the second section, two field surveys supporting the aim of the dissertation was conducted. The first survey aimed at determining the dwellings chosen within the field survey covering the districts, Boztepe and Bahcecik, in the city of Trabzon, and a questionnaire study with residents was conducted in order to evaluate conditions concerning thermal comfort at present dwellings and introduce negative effects of the current situation. SPSS program was applied in evaluating the data. The second survey analyzed these dwellings in terms of heat protection and new construction types produced as alternatives to these dwellings.In the third section, the results obtained from the studies which were performed in the field survey were statistically evaluated. In the forth section, the results of the studies examined were declared. In the fifth section, applying thermal isolation and choosing appropriate wall construction are suggested. Besides this, it is emphasized that a supplementary reference for building qualified constructions is required throughout the country as a result of the field study conducted in Trabzon located in the second degree day region.
