An approach of minimizing construction waste generated through the construction stage of the building

The necessity for new construction, as a result of population growth in Turkey and in the world, originates increased environmental problems; as the construction waste is generated through all stages of construction on site, utilization, deconstruction/demolition. Allowing uncontrolled dumping of the construction waste causes air and water pollution. The construction waste that is generated through the construction stage of the building has a negative impact on living organisms' health and the environment. Not to actualize this stage in a planned manner and lack of the audits increase the adverse impact and damage. Although it would have been possible with a waste management plan to prevent the generation of the construction waste and to manage the unavoidable waste, without this implementation or not extensively implementing is a problem for the living organisms' health and the national economy. During the construction on site for the reasons of having the insufficient number/ knowledge of the implementer site team and the supervision team, the incorrect material choice, any misfortunes through the material mobilization becomes an important problem with an undocumented approach. Another problem for the construction waste prevention/reduction issue is being oblivious to the subject by the personnel on the construction site or the organization, not having sufficient awareness by this personnel/ organization. Within the scope of this study; the aim of preventing/reducing the construction waste through the construction stage of the building with identifying the main causes of generating waste and as a result of this to able to minimize the waste, an approach is formed by placing a waste management plan and a construction documentation covering entire process.
