İsmail Hakkı Baltacıoğlu's opinions on education in the context of structural functionalist theory

This study is a study on the views of İsmail Hakkı Baltacıoğlu, who has an important place in the History of Turkish Sociology and the History of Turkish Education, on education and examining these views within the framework of Structural Functionalist theory. Baltacıoğlu, who criticized the education system, which is still discussed even today, in the 1930s and saw change as necessary, defended the view that we should leave the traditional education system and move to a modern and functionalist education approach. He explained these views in detail in his works titled İçtimai Mektep and Pedagojide Revolution, and revealed the necessity of change. In this study, who is İsmail Hakkı Baltacıoğlu, who contributes to the disciplines of education and sociology and is one of the important names in the field, and what are his views? What are the events that shape their thoughts about education? How did he establish a relationship between structural functionalist theory and education? What are his views on the emergence of structural functionalist theory and education? What are the similarities between the structural functionalist understanding of education and İsmail Hakkı Baltacıoğlu's understanding of education? Evaluations were made by targeting the questions. The research will be a guiding study in terms of understanding İsmail Hakkı Baltacıoğlu's world of thought through the current structure of the education system in Turkey, the views on education from the past to the present, and the educational model of the functionalist understanding.
