Abstract (EN)
Individuals' lives are influenced by many factors and ultimately the individual evaluates the quality of his/her life by looking at indicators such as education, health, income, socialization, etc. However, this approach has been criticized in recent years. In this context, the most prominent criticism is that the indicators including consumption and environmental impacts are not evaluated in determining the quality of life. In the current thesis, it is aimed to determine the direction and degree of the relationship between the "quality of life index" and the "happy planet index" with canonical correlation analysis using 2019 data for 25 European Union countries. As a result of the research, it was found that there is a very strong and positive relationship between the Quality of Life Index and the Happy Planet Index, and as a result of the analyses, it was concluded that the factors affecting the Quality of Life Index value of societies are purchasing power, health services, environmental pollution and housing prices; while the factors affecting the Happy Planet Index value are life expectancy, well-being, environmental struggle and ecological footprint.
