Yaşar Kemal's The Other Side of the Mountain and Nobody nature in trilogies

A total of six, namely Ortadirek, Yer Demir Gök Bakır, Ölmez Otu, Yağmurcuk Kuşu, Kale Kapısı and Kanın Sesi, which are included in Yaşar Kemal's trilogy, The Other Side of the Mountain and Nobody, one of the prominent representatives of Turkish literature and one of the leading names of social realist artists of the Republican Period. The handling of nature in the novel has been tried to be explained. Since the main place of both trilogy is Çukurova, the nature of that region is emphasized more and the effect of the local nature on the heroes is discussed. The thesis work consists of three parts. In the first chapter, nature and its reflection on the novel are emphasized, researches related to the subject are given, and the effect of nature on the novel is stated. In the second part, the use of nature in the Turkish novel is discussed with a historical process, and information is given about the use of nature in the first years of the Tanzimat, Servet-i Fünûn, National Literature and the Republic Period. In the third part, the general introduction of Yaşar Kemal novels discussed in the study was made, and how nature was reflected in these novels was expressed, and it was tried to explain how important nature elements, plants, animals and natural foods were included and how they were used one by one. In the conclusion part, a general evaluation was made about the results obtained in our study and information was given. With this thesis, it is aimed to reveal the importance he gives to nature and the way he uses the nature theme, based on Yaşar Kemal's six novels. While interpreting the nature in his novels, the idea of what nature means to him and what kind of function it has dominated. The effects of the reflection of the author's geography on his works is one of the aims of the thesis. The author, who made nature the protagonist in his works, described not only the Anatolian people but also the nature. He presented the relationship between nature and public to his readers by fusing them in his literary world. Dealing with the social and cultural problems of his period and individual themes together, Yaşar Kemal benefited from folk literature motifs as well as from oral and written literature belonging to the people.
